EMR donate to Blackburn Youth

EMR Metal Recycling donates to Blackburn Youth Zone.

Blackburn Youth Zone receives support from local metal recycler, EMR based on Gorse Street, to help support young people affected by the pandemic.

Blackburn Youth Zone offers support to thousands of young people a week, ranging from 5 to 19 years old and provides a safe place for young people when they are not at school.

EMR Blackburn has previously supported Blackburn Youth Zone’s skills programme to help improve young people’s employability.

EMR has kindly donated £1,000 to the Blackburn Youth Zone “Time to Talk” project. The “Time to Talk” project supports young people aged 5 – 19 over the next 12 months, responding to young people’s individual needs and priorities; it will particularly support those disproportionately affected by the COVID pandemic.

Mel Thomas, Fundraising Coordinator at Blackburn Youth Zone said:

‘We really appreciate EMR’s support, their donation has had a big impact on young people’s individual needs. Investing in the next generation is vital and we wouldn’t be able to do it without support from the local business community.’

Jordan Reddaway, Depot Manager at EMR Blackburn added:

‘At EMR we are proud to support the communities in which we operate. During times of such uncertainty Blackburn Youth Zone is providing an irreplaceable service to young people, offering them a safe space to access services which are otherwise unavailable to them. We look forward to seeing all of the great work that the Youth Zone will carry out with support of our donation.’

The donation was given as part of EMR’s Young Futures Reimagined programme, an initiative which aims to support vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the communities in which we operate.
